Eight at the Gate Winery

The famed Limestone Coast is the source of some of the most extraordinary grapes in Australia. Yes, the terroir here is perfect, but to make fine wine, you need more than a prestigious plot; you need passionate people. Well, you’ll find a bunch of them at Eight at the Gate, the very definition of a family-owned estate.

Jane and Claire grew up in the Limestone Coast and helped their father tend some of the first vines in the region. The sisters eventually moved on and formed their own families. Years later, destiny brought them back together to create their own legacy. Each with four beautiful sons and daughters, the team was complete, and the image of the eight kids at the gate was the beginning of this wonderful wine story.

The Limestone Coast is famous for its red soils, radiant sun and refreshing oceanic breeze. This is home to some of the most distinguished wine regions in Australia, including Padthaway and Coonawarra. It is north of Coonawarra region where you’ll find Wrattonbully, one of the most exciting wine regions in the area.

Wrattonbully is home to large players and boutique wineries alike. Cabernet, Chardonnay and Shiraz are the most successful varieties but expect everything from Viognier to Pinot Gris. The region’s long growing season and gorgeous weather help grape growers plant a tremendous variety of vines!

Eight at the Gate Winery call Wrattonbully home, have found in the prime land an authentic playground to produce both wine for everyday enjoyment and wine for special occasions.
