Paul Conti Wines

Paul Conti Wines

Paul Conti is the son of Sicilian immigrants. He learned everything he knows about winemaking from his father Carmelo (Charlie), who planted the first vines in his estate in 1948.

It has always been our mission to produce flavoured, elegant wines that reflect the unique qualities of the regions where our fruit is grown, says the humble Paul Conti, Chief Winemaker & Proprietor.

I recently had the privilege of getting to know this sweet man during a visit to his property. There’s something magical in the historic building and its vineyards, and you can taste it in the wines.

Mr. Conti greeted us himself; full of energy, he shares his passion vividly and never seems to run out of interesting stories. The underground cellar door is a cosy and charming room that looks like a small museum with rows of neatly organized bottles of wine and tools of the trade; it was dug out by Mr. Conti’s brothers by horse 70 years ago.

The barrel room is equally impressive, and the smell, oh the smell! I didn’t want to leave. I finally did because the best was still to come.

Today, Paul can enjoy the fruits of his labour through third generation and son Jason Conti, now the full-time winemaker at the family estate

Jason Conti produces wines from a wide range of varieties, all sourced from selected vineyards across the region, except for his Nero d’Avola, those grapes are grown from the family estate in Woodvale, located only 30 minutes north of Perth.

Walking among the vine rows is something special. You can see the old building from there and the beautiful alfresco area where the winery holds wine tasting events every couple of months. Next to it, the winery’s own restaurant.

Paul Conti Wines also holds free-flowing wines events every two month, an opportunity to savour their premium range wines and connect with other wine lovers.

Thank you, Mr. Conti, for a fascinating afternoon. You’re a dedicated pioneer in the region, and a marvellous human being. Your wines reflect your life’s work.
